President Museveni praises Bishop Moses Banja and his wife Olivia for exemplifying enduring love and faith as they mark 25 years of marriage at a colourful ceremony in Namirembe.

The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Moses Banja, and his wife, Rev. Canon Prof. Olivia Nassaka Bbanja, have marked a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years of marriage.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations were held at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe, where the couple renewed their vows in a ceremony characterised by reflections on love, faith, and commitment.

The service was presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.

Vice President Jessica Alupo represented President Yoweri Museveni at the event and delivered his message congratulating the couple.

In his message, Museveni described the 25-year union as a testament to enduring love, unwavering commitment, and steadfast faith.

“This occasion is not only a personal celebration for the Banja family but also a moment of inspiration for all present, especially the young people,” Museveni said.

“In a world where the institution of marriage often faces many challenges, your journey stands as a shining example of resilience, patience, and devotion.

With faith at the centre, marriage can flourish and become a pillar of strength not just for a family, but for the entire community.”

The President paid special tribute to Olivia Bbanja, who also serves as Vice Chancellor of Ndejje University, for her support and dedication.

“Behind every great servant of God is a supportive partner. Mama Banja, we recognise and appreciate your love, sacrifices, and loyalty in your home and in the Church,” he said.

Museveni also commended Bishop Banja for his service, noting that his leadership has positively impacted many lives across the country.

He further praised religious leaders in Uganda for promoting values that contribute to socio-economic transformation, highlighting the role of church-led initiatives in complementing government efforts in sectors such as health, education, and business.

“It is gratifying to note that religious leaders in Uganda have gone beyond evangelism to contribute to peace and socio-economic development,” he said.

On behalf of the government and the people of Uganda, Museveni extended his congratulations and wished the couple continued blessings, good health, and prosperity.

The ceremony was attended by several high-profile figures, including former Inspector General of Government Beti Olive Kamya, Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, the Nabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda, and Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, alongside members of the clergy and invited guests.
